Gmail bouncing FlightAware alert emails

Anyone else getting the "FlightAware has detected a problem with your email account."?

I’m signed up to get many flight alerts per day and it’s been fine for months. I even made a brand new gmail account and have the same problem with that one too.

Conventional wisdom is that Gmail thinks the message is spam, or security fields are misconfigured, but they do not pass the error on to me, and so far neither has FlightAware.

Other emails from FlightAware, like billing invoices, get through fine.

Is it possible this is only happening to me?

Forgot to mention that I do the reactiviation dance, but that only helps for a few hours.

Same issue here, have had the red bar for a couple of days now. Tried the email activation link like 3 times and I get that my email was verified and it goes away for a while and then it shows up again. Have not been getting alert emails that is true but invoices do come through. Guessing this is a Gmail bug or something to do with FA on how they handle the email bulletins.

Same issue. First with a Comcast.net email address. So I changed my FA details to use a Gmail.com account. I received the activation link there and responded to it. This seemed to solve it for a while, but now I have the big red banner back and the activation emails are not being received.

Same here! I’ve had FA alerts go to a Gmail account (which has plenty of unused storage space) for years, and I started getting the red banner. I’ve gotten rid of the red banner and started to get alert emails again by verifying my address, but a short time later, it returns and alerts stop coming in. Been through that process a few times. Now I’m unable to even get the verification emails anymore. Really getting frustrating and seems like it’s definitely an issue on FA’s side.

Three days now. Revalidated email 4 times.

See here.

I’m having the same problem. It started this afternoon. It asks me to reactivate the account using the registered email, but I’m not receiving any email.

The feeder entry in the control panel also shows as empty, even though my PiAware is sending data. I initially thought it might be a configuration error, but I’ve checked and haven’t found anything unusual.

I am also having this problem. My site appears to still be up, but I am no longer receiving any Flightaware updates to my Gmail. This is annoying because I’m actually needing to track some airline flights this week for family travel.

Another big red banner has appeared on my stats page.

All my sites that should be working appear to be still reporting.

I’m out of the country at the moment but i get home tomorrow. I’ll hope that it all keeps working and I’ll worry about it when i get home at 5am.

S.

I’m getting the banner now as well since this afternoon. I’m also using an Gmail account for the login on this website.

Here’s my workaround until FA fixes this problem:

  1. Add an additional non-bouncing email address to each alert.
  2. Forward alerts from the non-bouncing email to where they’re supposed to go.
  3. Keep track of the number of days this is broken and demand a discount on my subscription fee.

Ironically I have received kudos from FA for being active in the forum, but zero response to my daily emails about this problem.

Same problem here. After navigating the site, everytime this popup appears, conviently placed on top of the area where the menu is. After clicking the link for the reactivation email, nothing is received, which is no suprise if this is according FA statement that my provider is blocking the email. It makes no sense at all. Last FA email I received, was 16/6/26 and I do not believe that my dutch provider decided to block the email. The spamfilter I can see at my provider’s site, does not block any FA stuff.

Thanks, that’s a good tip. I just set up a forwarder and switched to it in my account settings. Seems to be working so far.

Finally got some confirmation that they’re looking at the problem:

I revalidared my email about 12 hours ago and, touch wood, the red banner hasn’t come back.

:crossed_fingers:

Revalidated my gmail account this morning as well. Fingers crossed.

I revalidated an hour ago for the 2nd time in 24 hrs. So far so good, the error has not popped up again.

Same here, only received by IOS app.

My gmail e-mail has also not worked for the last couple of weeks. I try to revalidate, but that email also doesn’t get delivered. Nothing is in my spam folder. I added flightaware.com to my gmail whitelist. That doesn’t help either. This is a HUGE problem, not just for me, but anyone who has a gmail account.
