What do you see when you visit < ip >/skyaware?
I get this: picture attached skyaware|690x322
Now it works… rebooted the raspberry pi and now there are planes on the map!
Thank you
Hello my fellow ADS-B friends all over the world.
Seen that there is a V5 on the air
And I Would love to update… but it seems that I have done something on the settings on my Pi4 and for my life I have no idea what…
This is the message I get when I go to Upd from the setting WebPage.
*(Sending commands to your device is not available because the feature is disabled locally on your device.)
How I overcome this Error message… And No I do not want to redo a new Image. Just to be able to press a button and magical do his job and the system after reboot will work ok…
That’s not directly an error message. It prevents you from remote change something from your FA profile.
Can be enabled in piaware config
As far as i know you need to enable manual updates with piaware-config.

If I re-image, will the unique id of my feeder reset? I have been feeding for 2270 continuous days, 01/2015. Will that streak end?
If you decide to re-image (a wise decision), then do NOT re-image your existing microSD card. Instead use a spare microSD card.
Using a spare microSD card for re-imaging has the advantage that if anything goes wrong or stuck with re-imaging, you can restore your system and prevent your streak from breaking by slipping out new microSD card, and slipping in the old microSD card and powering up.
Please see following guide:
How to Install and Configure Piaware 5.0 SD card image - Quickstart Guide
EDIT:
If your existing install has other feeders also (such as FR24, Planefinder etc), then please see this guide:
Re-imaging Made Easy
Thanks for posting this. It made me realise I was still on the old OS and not buster.
So I imaged another SD card, opened the boot directory and added a blank ssh file (with no extension) then went into the PI Config file and added the feeder ID and changed my Gain setting to what I run.
Popped it into my 3+ and Viola, it works perfect.
Thanks again for the reminder.
The results are pretty good. Definitely seeing an increase in the number of aircraft/positions
What version of Raspberry Pi OS is PiAware 5.0 image based on? Jessie, Stretch or Buster?
You forgot to include Wheezy in the list
It is Buster.
OK thanks. I’ll grab the 5.0 image and update. thanks again.
Alas, I have not seen an increase as of yet. I had upgraded mine with apt-get commands but I read yours and I really should have re-imaged. So Ill wait and see if I get an increase.
To re-image is a wise decision.

yep I had a spare MicroSD, burnt the image and added SSH.txt and the feeder key to the config. swapped it out and all good now.
thank for you info. much appreciated.
I feed to fr24 also yes.
This command results as below
1015 /usr/bin/dump978-fa --sdr driver=rtlsdr --format CS8 --raw-port 30978 --json-port 30979
You need an explanation?
You can’t do 978 and 1090 on the same SDR.
Disable 978 …
HOLY COW
I just notice the SKYAWARE Anywhere feature on my adsb page. Im at another location and clicked on it because I just saw it abd POOF my skyaware page just like Im home
KEWL, Never thought I needed it but I do now
That’s why i am happy about it as well. Even in home office my company VPN prevents me from accessing my home network. But now i have a near-realtime view to my devices without beeing at home.
