USAirways bids $8 Billion to buy Delta!!

Just read this on the RoadRunner homepage. I’ll get a link up here soon. This is a merger I wouldn’t have predicted!! (not that anything’s happened–yet)

edit Here’s one link; I’m sure there will be many places to read about this shortly.

Can you say “Twiddledee and Twiddledum?”
This would be a merger made in hell! What is US Airways thinking of?

I don’t understand the reference to Tweedledum and Tweedledee (note spelling).

A suggested correction and a few additional notes:

This is a merger made in Hell. What are the executives of US Airways thinking?

woud be? … will be/is
Hell is a proper noun. Hell conveys a strong image without the need of an exclamation.
“US Airways” is a corporation and obviously incapable of thinking.
Please use proper grammar and don’t end a sentence in a preposition.

I trust you were caught up in the emotion of the moment.

Go git 'im, wazzu!!!

From the U.S. Airways newsletter I received this morning:

http://www.usairways.com/awa/content/operations/merger/default.aspx?redir=Email&c=eml_mkt_news_dm_11152006

Uh huh, what goes around, comes around

Good response Wazzu90.

“Hell” can be either a proper or non-proper noun.

“US Airways” is an incorporated entity. It is a legal “person.”

“Would” indicates something that will happen in the future.

How about “Tweedle Dumb and Tweedle Dumber” if this goes through. Their hub system would need to be completely altered, their fleets don’t match up at all, and Delta always seemed to want to stand on its own, whereas US seems to be merging with SOMEBODY every other week or so. This is why I was so floored when I saw this today.

That’s what I should have said.

Are their A/C, gates, and ATL only worth $8 billion? I guess those MD88/90s are only worth a couple million. The ATRs would be a liability in the event USA bought DAL. Hey! Where is USAir? I would have guessed he’d have chimed in by now.

He’s too busy scrounging up loose change in the couch cushions.

Looks like UAL may stick their nose in this thing, too.

Very Funny. 8)

Anyways, I`d hate to see US Airways go away.
Would they change the colors again?

Yes, to Delta colors.

Oh, DL colors definately! 8)

Actually, I think they’d operate as two “separate” airlines with the same corporate structure. That’s how I perceived it anyway. Sounds like a lot of overhead expenses though.

According to an article in the Wall Street Journal all aircraft will be flying under the Delta name and livery.

Yes, that’s what I read as well.

You’re probably right. I’ve been busy the last couple of days, and haven’t read much since the first day of the story.

Which court is handling the Delta bankruptcy?
