I’ve recently relocated out of my original area, and need to update to a new location. The UI seems to prevent movement of the location on the map if it’s too far from the original. What’s the best way to “de-register” the PiAware install and move it to the new location?
You can move your site incrementally until you reach your new location. Then again FA staff may notice the thread and follow up.
Your choice. I occasionally get the problem when traveling and use the former.
You can either email support flightaware.com/about/contact or post the approx location here and then fine-tune it.
In the set-location-map-box scroll to the bottom and select advanced, this will allow you to enter the coordinates directly. Isn’t this easier then moving the map a km at a time across the globe?

I setup a new rasp-pi at my location in Arizona, tested, it was working fine.
I moved the PI to a new permanent location to Mexico Bahia de Kino and at the beginning it did not
allow me to change locations. :
“Too far away” was the message,
I also displayed the previous airports in AZ, Fortunately after a few minutes it started tracking planes, soon after I was able to move the location and select closest airport. I think you must start the device a wait until it recognize the new lat and long location from the ADS-B incoming data, remember there is no GPS with the system. So the device does not know it was moved.
That was my experience last week in Mexico , my site there is here kinomanor.homeip.net:8080
