JGR selling their Lear 31A http://www.controller.com/listingsdetail/aircraft-for-sale/LEARJET-31A/2001-LEARJET-31A/1249704.htm?

I’m not sure if they’ve already made their decision, but last I heard they were considering either an XLS or Lear 60.

I wonder if it has anything to do with Kenseth coming on board? he owns a Lear 60 which has been on and off the market for a few years. It seems lately that race teams/owners are now partnering with drivers on the ownership/use of aircraft. I am wondering if the the aircraft has started to be included in contract negotiations. Denny Hamlin just resigned last year and upgraded to the Challenger which is now co-owned by JGR and Jimmy Johnson is co-owner with Hendrick Morotsports on his G150. I am guessing we will see more of this in the future as a way for driver to realize the benefits of an aircraft while the owner shoulders some of the cost while also gaining use of the aircraft. Just a thought!

Kenseth is going to JGR?

That’s the rumor. http://espn.go.com/racing/nascar/cup/story/_/id/8211686/sources-matt-kenseth-discuss-new-sprint-cup-deal-joe-gibbs-racing

Exactly, a rumor.

Regarding racing teams owning the drivers personal jets, I’m guessing its for tax purposes. JGR has been looking into a new airplane long before there have been rumors of Kenseth going there. 31’s are getting long in the tooth, and I’m sure they’d like something with a bigger cabin.

Just noticed that Andy Petree has rejoined the NASCAR Airforce- N773V

Does anyone know if he is piloting himself, or if he has a pilot?

I would say he is flying it himself. He had/has a helicopter that he flys himself.
He bought the helicopter from Greg Biffle. It was Biffle’s first heli…

It’s my understanding that the registration changes to ownership by the “team” vs. the “individual driver” has something to do with regulations as it realtes to who can use and operate the aircraft as well as who’s allowed to be transported on the aircraft. It seems that these changes started shortly after Jimmy Johnson’s plane crash-landed in Key West with Hendrick on-board and his pilots (not Jimmy’s) at the controls. Don’t quote me, but I believe it’s related to something along those lines.

N500RH For Sale??

Replacement for N500MM

Hendrick is advertising for a Challenger 300 crew, from what I understand it’s an addition to the fleet, not a replacement.

This comes up for sale, maybe replacement??

Possibly, but from what I heard, the CL300 is going to be dedicated to the auto dealership part of Hendrick, with some race support here and there, but it could be incorrect. I guess we’ll have to wait and see

Since the N24JG listing is run by FlightWorks, that could refer to the airplane being available for charter by that company.

Hendrick bought a G 550 from Bank of America, same as he did with N500RH. The G 550 is listed for sale as well, possibly he bought paper, and is trying to flip for quick profit???

But they have a new reserved N1RH ???

It looks like Furniture Row added a Lear 60 to their stable in addition to N601FR

so I wonder if any of the drivers have Aircraft with Abnoxious paint jobs or screaming red and black seats or something weird like that.

Sure, here is one

nice, hey look at me !!

Runway Incident Delays Departure of NASCAR Charter: A 737 charter jet filled with NASCAR drivers, crew and media members slipped off the runway while taxiing for takeoff at Concord (NC) Regional Airport today, becoming stuck in the mud and delaying its departure for Dover International Speedway. NASCAR Sprint Cup Series drivers #27-Paul Menard, #13-Casey Mears, #93-Travis Kvapil, #30-David Stremme and #95-Scott Speed were all on the airplane when it strayed off the runway at slow speed, no injuries were reported. The passengers deplaned without incident, and were transferred to another aircraft.(Godfather Motorsports)(9-27-2012)
