There doesn’t seem to be an obvious reason for it, but there has to be a reason somewhere. For all we know they were picking up some scouts on the way back to Dallas or something. They were on the ground less than an hour.
If it has tail tanks sure…I sent a B727 from KPIE to KOAK once with the Oakland A’s and filled that baby to the gills with go juice…once you start filling the tail / aux tank the flow slows and it takes FOREVER.
If it hasn’t had additional fuel tanks added it can’t make it westbound nonstop. It may be able to do the eastbound flight nonstop if the winds are good.
The 727-100 could make nonstop flights across the nation but, because the -200 is a heavier machine, the -200 can’t do it on a regular basis.
Can we change the flight number on this one? Their 5 game winning streak and close proximity to my Blues in the standings needs some change in momentum, and a change in flight number might be enough to get them off their game.
Surprised Y-K-W has not chipped in so far , but…
that’s a flight number; the tail number is what’s actually painted on the airplane, ie the registration.
