Hockey Tail Numbers

The Islanders are currently in the air flying Westjet 8509 to Terrace BC for the preseason game against the Canucks tonight. The Canucks are flying shortly on the usual ACA7037.
I guess due to the current Canada-US conflict regarding sports charters, the Islanders have chartered Westjet for the Canadian leg of preseason games.

Bruins have themselves a new plane this year, from what I’m reading. They went to New York to take on the Rangers in both teams’ first preseason game. This is the plane I got from the information that I read:

BSK 384

Florida Panthers appear to be using Skyservice while in Canada.

Looks like a lot of teams are changing the flight numbers this year. As I get them, I’ll start a new list for them. Pens are now BSK392

Anaheim Ducks

flightaware.com/live/flight/BSK3 … /KBUF/KIAD

Edmonton Oilers

flightaware.com/live/flight/ACA7040
flightaware.com/live/flight/ACA7 … /CYWG/CYEG
flightaware.com/live/flight/ACA7 … /CYEG/CYWG

Tampa Bay Lightning
flightaware.com/live/flight/BSK395
flightaware.com/live/flight/BSK3 … /KFNL/CYWG
flightaware.com/live/flight/BSK3 … /CYWG/KORF

Los Angeles Kings

Permalinks should be posted, not the generic link. For example, if I come back in a couple of weeks SWQ801 will have gone one additional flights. Not all of those flights will have been for the Kings.

You need a legacy, 717zulu: make it permalinks for the above flights.

Damiross,

I’m not understanding what you are saying. If I click on one of those links 2 weeks from now it will take me to the most recent flight. Which is what I want to see, not the flight that happened yesterday. Since the hockey teams generaly use the same flight numbers all year I dont see the problem.

As an example, let’s take SWQ801. SWQ uses this flight number all the time.

Click on the date in the flight listing:
Clicking on 25 Sep 09 gives you flightaware.com/live/flight/SWQ8 … /KLAS/KLAX which may be the Kings flight

Clicking on 1 Aug 09 gives you flightaware.com/live/flight/SWQ8 … /MMMY/KLAS which is probably not a Kings flight.

The permalink is always accessible so if I was reading this posting a year from now I would still be able to access the flight for 25 Sep 09 while by entering the generic link - flightaware.com/live/flight/SWQ801- I would not be able to see the flight for 25 Sep 09 a year from now.

ACA7040 is another good example. If you look at the complete history at flightaware.com/live/flight/ACA7040/history it appears that the flight number is used for more than just the Oilers.

Ok thanks, I understand what you are saying now.
But If I wish to track my team around I want to know where they are now. Since it is now hockey season and they do use the same flight number throughout the season I’ve got a pretty good chance of getting the teams current flight. I dont care where they were 6 months ago or this time last year. If by chance the flight came up saying it is currently in Mexico then I would make an educational guess and say they are not playing the Mexico City Banditos tonight.
Thanks for the clarification though.

I understand what you’re saying. But a given team may not use the same flight number all the time or the airline may use the same flight number for ALL flights, not just the team’s flight. SWQ801 is a good example of the latter.

Also, it helps your readers to know which particular flight you are talking about. If you put in the permalink you will also get all flights under that flight number when you click on it.

Sharks are using the Fry’s Electronics 727 (N724YS) this year for travel with the Fry’s 747SP (N747A) as backup. Unfortunately both are blocked…

LOL, got it done!

Agreed, wish they assigned team numbers.

I like the way you did - a person can either go directly to the most current flight or a specific flight.

You are now free to claim your legacy, 717!

St Louis Blues to Stockholm via Keflavik, Iceland

Sweet, they are going to use a 727 -or- a 747SP. A spotters dream!

Detroit had a preseason game against the Penguins tonight (game was in MI) before they had to book it for Europe. First flight I saw:

AVI 802 > Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County to Stockholm-Arlanda Airport
