Interesting - a (presumably marines) harrier was just circling our neighborhood near KSJC and then went in to land. Wasn’t flying fast, and had landing gear deployed the whole time. Extremely loud as you always get from a harrier.
Anyone know why they are flying around?

Looks like an airshow up at SQL featuring Harriers. Awfully far away for the harrier to be flying so slowly and gear-down, but what do I know…
steingra, it is in fact an airshow. I think this is the first year in a while (or ever?) that they’ve had the Harrier in. The theme of the show is always helicopters so I guess they thought they’d add a VTOL aircraft as well.
I live in the neighborhood but missed it! bummer.
Maybe it was landing there (SJC) for some reason, but is in town for the show?
It would more than likely land at Moffet Federal Air Field than San Jose. NUQ is located close to SJC.
I heard that they are staging out of SJC because Moffett does not provide fuel on the weekends.
