Getting grandpa's wings back.

So tomorrow, I’m taking my grandpa (who has been bought several warbird flights, and flew back seat with me one other time but beyond that has not flown) flying, and for the first time since the 60’s he’ll be behind the controls of an airplane again.
This oughta be fun to see the bug bite once again.

best of luck to ya … sounds like fun 8)

Reminds me of and “old” joke, what’s the inside of PFP’s plane smell like?

Depends… :stuck_out_tongue:

Have a ball and don’t forget to video it.

pfp might not like that… But it’s probably what yours smells like… :stuck_out_tongue:

Have fun!

Well the video turned out terrible. The sun, the position, it’s all inside the cabin, but no real flying, so it’s not worth editing. BUT! The flight was great! Best weather I’ve had in ages. He flew it for a couple min but wanted to sit back and enjoy the flight.

The smell of the cabin, slight smell of Avgas and old airplane and nothing more today  . I’ll devulge that I am vegetarian and partake in many soy substituted products, BUT on flying days, for the safety and comfort of the PAX, I’ll usually abstain!

What else could top that?

Oh, I can come up with a few but not in mixed company and certainly not to a minor.

pfp… Vegetarian :open_mouth: I better not say anything…

Hope he doesn’t eat broccoli  :smiling_imp:

I’m sure he does… :unamused:

Oh brother, bleeding heart save the plant people! :unamused:

 I hear you deef!! 8)

Cool story. What kind of plane were you flying?

77 Warrior.
He only had about 120 hours or so when he stopped flying. He had a rather large family, and had mouths to feed, so he put it on the back burner. When I was about 11 or 12, he taught me dead reckoning. So on the way over there I gave him the flight info, and weight and balance calculations to look over. You could tell he was a bit nervous about it . Once we got up there though I think he liked it. Beautiful day. Cumulous layer at 4000-4500ish, I took it up to 5500 above the haze layer where it was extremely smooth. We flew to his farm and dropped down lower to circle it a couple times and flew back. He didn’t fly it as much as I wanted. But maybe a couple more times up and back into the feeling of it all will change that.
He’s a J-3 guy, and is talking (and I think it;'s just talk) about getting something in the T-Craft, Champ, Luscomb class off aircraft. We’ll see.
It was a great time though, especially since I’ve had such horrible WX my last 6 or 7 times out!
