Flight Cancellation Friday 20th September

Hi, apologies, I need some help finding some information. My BA flight was cancelled on Friday 20th, 20.20pm LHR to Munich. BA are citing bad weather, which I believe to be nonsense. Lufthansa had a flight at roughly the same time also from Heathrow. Was this cancelled?
Thanks

It did indeed operate, if quite late LH2481 (DLH2481) Lufthansa Historial y rastreo de vuelos 20-09-2024 (LHR / EGLL-MUC / EDDM) - FlightAware

There was indeed weather, which could lead to airspace capacity restrictions.

It could be a geographical or a Europe vs everyone else thing. But for someone from ‘downUnder’, I find it odd how so many people turn to a plane tracking platform, to create an acct in the hope of finding a different reason for cancellation because they don’t believe an airline

Understand theres different refund policies everyone is likely trying to get around. But surely that’d be what full cover travel insurance is for for important trips.

I’d have thought short of doing a callsign track for timing of a flight. A tracking site can offer no more insight, as it’s not tied to ATC or airspace control directly which can factor or the people making the decisions.

Thank you. That’s helpful.

I believe the airline, I am just trying to understand why one carrier flies at the same time from the same airport to the same destination, whilst another does not. It will determine my choices in the future about who I choose to fly with. British Airways have been very unreliable recently and having a flight cancelled less than an hour before the flight is due to depart is very unhelpful.

Unfortunately the difficulty is there are also a lot of scenarios that fall outside something easy. Airlines can, (and likely do) also cancel flights for statistical and penalty purposes if They’re crafty.

An example, a flight that cannot leave because ground crew are forced indoors due to storms in the area. Or diverted to another airport, Could ‘cancel’ the original flight number/plan (on paper).
Only to relog a plan later, potentially under a different or the same callsign to complete the leg. The trick being the new dept time, could be inside a new time window rather than appear ‘delayed’

Not really cancelled. Only in the eyes of it’s original intent/time/plan.

I find these same cancellations to be quite interesting myself. Our flight from LHR to Paris was cancelled as well, yes Air France flew, taking off only 15 minutes after our flight was supposed to.
