It is only present on sdcard images because it assumes things about locations of status files etc that are not necessarily present on package-based installs.
I’ve updated my Radarcape from the instruction on this page
I went ahead and also did the dump1090 part as I was hoping to be able to view the performance graphs etc, but maybe I have done the wrong thing?
Will this work on the Radarcape? If so how do I find the graphs?
When I go to the IP address of the radarcape now, the usual Jetvision set up page is now gone
Have I made a mistake putting dump1090-fa onto the Radarcape?
No I dont think the IP has changed as im still monitoring the aircraft on Plane Plotter, and Flight Aware says im still there with the correct address.
If I try and see Piaware skyview, the page comes up but the round circle thing stays in the middle of the screen and it seems to be loading for ever, doesnt change.
I just thought it would work, and I would be able to view the graphs etc from dump1090.
When I go directly to the local IP in my browser it shows a Placeholder page ‘you should replace this page with your own webpages as soon as possible’, and a whole heap of other info.
If I go to (ip add)/install etc etc, it just comes up with 404-page not found.
I can put in (IP address)/dump1090-fa/ and it comes up with the greyed out piaware page with the rotating circle in the middle like its loading, but it goes no where.
Im lost atm, was just wanting to get the graphs working. Still feeding to Plane plotter and Flight aware OK.
But cant log into anything locally, except via Putty SSH.
By installing via the scripts you have over written the default radarcape web stuff or broken the web server or configured a second web server. The blank screen is probably due to fact it can’t find the json file generated by dump1090.
The only way to recover is to redo the SD card. Just remember to take note of your unique fa key.
I would investigate how to install the performance charts in their own right.
The radarcape does not use dump1090 the fa client sets it self up to connect to a port the radarcape provides.
It’s all a learning curve and alot of what people do with pis here is not directly applicable to the radarcape. Not without some work at any rate.
If you really want to play I would setup a pi and point it at the radarcape with beast splitter(built into the fa client) and run it as a second or the primary site that way you can see any improvements you make to your setup without changing a single thing on the radarcape.
Thanks guys.
The Radarcape is still working, where I can still get data to Plane Plotter, and also to Flight Aware stats page.
But yes, it would seem that the Pi Aware page is not getting data to plot planes and I cant access any of the performance graphs.
I guess it was a bad move.
I might have to talk to the Jetvision people about how I can get the original Radarcape internal access pages back when I point my browser to the IP address.
In february this year I started with RPi and setting up this tracker.
I started with :
Jetvision ADS-B USB Dongle (R820T2) + Small Indoor Antenna
Then in april I Installed an outdoor antenna :
SCO-1090-MCX Antenna + SMA/MCX Adapter
And was very pleased with it
Today I got in the mail :
FlightAware Pro Stick
FlightAware ADS-B 1090MHz Band-pass SMA Filter
I installed the Pro Stick (not the filter) in the afternoon and the difference was there : see picture , the rise at ca 3pm
Later I will install the filter , but I realise this picture is not really “scientific” a better way would be to see the difference on performance graphs
Question is it still valid to install it according what I read in different topics ?
Or do I have to start from scratch (again ?)
Do I “lose” Piaware Skyview or not ?
Can annybody point me to the correct instructions ?
I’m very confused(and new) about this topic
Before I installed the performance graphs, my install was as follows:
Raspbian Stretch Lite
dump1090-fa (SkyView)
piaware data feeder
fr24 data feeder
planefinder data feeder
adsbexchange data feeder
opensky-network data feeder
radarbox24 data feeder
I then ran adsb-receiver project script, and in the options offered by script, I refused everything except the option to install “Web Portal”, and the script installed the graphs without disturbing the existing install.
Note:
I refused “advanved” option of Web Portal, as it unnecessaly creates a database, which quickly grows in size, wearing microSD card.
Commands I used to install Adsb-receiver Project’s Web Porral / Performance Graphs using J Prochazka’s scripts:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install git
cd ~/
git clone https://github.com/jprochazka/adsb-receiver.git
cd ~/adsb-receiver
./install.sh
can these data from aircrafts.json be transfered to mySQL on PC/ext USB or to a .csv (like the heatmap.py) avoiding frequent writes on SD (mostly interested in unique aircraft, only the first appearance) ?
any ideas how ?
Sorry to bother you again !
but on in the process I got the message :
│ The following software will be installed: │
│ │
│ * FlightAware PiAware │
│ * ADS-B Exchange data export and MLAT Client │
│ * ADS-B Receiver Project Web Portal │
│ │
│ Do you wish to continue setup?
Is this ok ? because it says it will install Flightware PiAware also ?
In earlier messages I answered no to install an upgrade of dump1090-fa, because I think I have already latest
│ An updated version of dump1090-fa is available. │
│ │
│ Would you like to download, build, then install the new │
│ version?
Yes, it is OK.
This is a bad feature of “adsb-receiver project” script that it does not initially detect existence of Piaware and lists it in items to be installed. However when the script reaches the point to actually install Piaware, it succeeds in detecting that latest version of Piaware is already existing. It will then skip to next step without installing Piaware.
I must be stupid !!
I got to this last screen of the setup of the portal (see hereunder), I said no , not installing advanced things,
the script terminated, I thought it would say how to reach the portal ,
Bu it doesn’t and I don’t now, I saw somewhere , http:///install/ but that does not work
What to do now ?
│ The ADS-B ADS-B Receiver Project Portal adds a web accessable portal to │
│ your receiver. The portal contains allows you to view performance graphs, │
│ system information, and live maps containing the current aircraft being │
│ tracked. │
│ │
│ By enabling the portal's advanced features you can also view historical │
│ data on flight that have been seen in the past as well as view more │
│ detailed information on each of these aircraft. │
│ │
│ THE ADVANCED PORTAL FEATURES ARE STILL IN DEVELOPMENT │
│ │
│ It is recomended that only those wishing to contribute to the development │
│ of these features or those wishing to test out the new features enable │
│ them. Do not be surprised if you run into any major bugs after enabling │
│ the advanced features at this time! │
│ │
│ Do you wish to continue with the ADS-B Receiver Project Portal setup? │
You should say OK to this screen.
Once you OK this screen, the next question will be advance features. Say No to it, and installation of Web Portal will start.
I’m here again
I got through, did the further setup in the “install” form I got via http://(ip adres)/install/
But now what ?
I have no response from my ip adress (Skyview also not responding) but I presume that is build in the the new portal
I did a reboot to be sure, I have no clue
I rerunned the install script but that didn’t helped
Maybe I did something wrong during the postfix installation , I said don’t need email, “internet” was default marked but I change it ?
I got reponse the rapberry Pi itself (127.0.0.1) I have graphs, but in maps I have no Skyview , only some garble headings from the original skyview…
