On what routes does Delta fly their 767-400s and on what routes does Dl fly their 772s?
777 for Delta is (I think)
Tel Aviv (when it starts)
Frankfurt
London
Paris
Tokyo
LAX
MCO (possibly)
Amsterdam
Milan (certain times of year)
Not sure on the 767-400 but I would guess almost all of the european destinations and big cities in South America.
They may use the 767 to South Africa too instead of 777.
Download the Delta PDF timetable. Search for 777 and 764 using the whole word option. This search option is available in Acrobat Reader 7; not sure if it is available in earlier or Mac editions.

You must have waaayyy too much free tme to do that and run the company…have any job openings? HA
Believe it or not, that was just one simple command that took <10 seconds to type and <1 second for our systems to produce the results for.
DANGIT…WORK WITH ME HERE!!!
Dbaker, How in the world did u do that?
He can do anything, it’s his site.
Ha Ha!!
I know that for a short time, DL flew ATL-MCO w/ a 772 for @ least 1 flight a day. For someone like myself, who rarely travels overseas, this would have presented a golden opportunity to fly the T7 w/out going too far or spending (too much) $$$$. Alas, by the time I realized this, it was already gone . They still fly the 764, but it’s not nearly the same thing. If I don’t make it across the pond anytime soon, I guess I’ll have to catch a UA “triple” form KORD-KDEN. That’s about the only current domestic T7 route that I can recall.
If I’m not mistaken, Delta has a habit of introducing new aircraft on shorter routes such as ATL/MCO to work out any bugs in them.
HOW DID U DO THAT?
There’s another daily 772 flight - #171 ATL to LAX:
http://flightaware.com/live/flight/DAL171
I’m gonna be on it Labor Day weekend - really lookin’ forward to it!
The 772 runs down to MCO and LAX are seasonal, depending on aircraft utilisation. They are basically used in order to allow the aircraft to make some money as opposed to sitting on the ground in ATL all day before its next long haul flight.
However, as we only have 8 777s at the moment, and have just opened TLV and JNB routes with 777s, those domestic 777 routes will be severely reduced, if not removed all together, in the near future. The 767s are our bread and butter aircraft for international routes, but we have enough of them to be able to use them on the high density/demand transcons and routes to/from Florida.

Where does Delta fly in Africa??? I’ve never heard of any U.S. Airlines flying to Africa.
Pan Am and TWA used to have significant routes to Africa.
DL is starting service with 777s to Johannesburg from ATL, with a tech (refueling) stop in Dakar.

Am I the only person to know that questions like this can be answered quickly by looking at the airline’s web site?
If you had taken the initiative, you would have found that currently Delta flies to JNB only through a code-share with South African.
You would also have found, by looking at the press releases, the folowing:
“Delta Receives U.S. DOT Approval to Begin Flights between Atlanta and Africa in December
ATLANTA, Feb. 28, 2006 Delta Air Lines the United States fastest growing major international airline has received the necessary U.S. government approvals to begin flights between the worlds largest airline hub in Atlanta and the burgeoning South African city of Johannesburg, with an intermediate stop in Dakar, Senegal, effective Dec. 4, 2006.”
I’m telling ya…
The idea I sent to you yesterday is a winner…this is proof!!!
I wasn’t a recipient of the message, but I’d bet I could guess as to its contents!
Regards,
James
