I figured it out it’s 6,076.1155 feet. It also corresponds to approximately to one minute of latitude along any meridian. The derived unit of speed is the knot, defined as one nautical mile per hour.
Now we all know- DUH

To K.I.S.S., just add 15% to a mile(s) to calculate a nautical mile(s), and add 15% to a knot(s)…which are not to be confused with knots …to calculate mph.
It is not exactly my favourite but it is quite interesting and we have pics:

KMCD? Lovely place.
Mackinac Island is the location, at least according to the URL for the photo.
Edit: Squeezed in between two pictures, I see JHEM’s posting of it being Mackinac, also.
So this is the only picture I have of the “Cool airport” I was at (7x now) I had to allow the guard to waterboard me in exchange for this picture
Sorry about that … it is indeed Mackinac Island Michigan, not far from Sault Ste. Marie.
Motorized vehicles not allowed.
In the winter, the only access to the island is via the airport.
The ramp has hosted as many 150 airplanes.
A few interesting airports I’ve been to:
Kadena AFB, Okinawa, home of the HABUs:
The fixed wing airstrip (Reliable Field) under construction at Dong Tam, RVN, circa 1967 (The long black line in the right center of the picture):

But before I left there we had built revetments that guarded some of the Army’s finest aircraft:

Only one way in… nice smooth grass, lake on one end of the grass strip vertical hills on the other side. Lakeview, AR

I’ve also been here… Grand Lake Regional (309) in Oklahoma but I neglected to bring my camera so I’ll “borrow” this picture from airliners(.)net
Not an airport. Was supposed to be an airbase but plans were changed just days before the runway was to be paved. Now it’s a recreation area(with a funny name) for horses, ATVs, campers, picnickers, etc.

My kind of place!
Got a ride on the boat over there a few times, never have flown though.

Were you flying a glider?

No cars or trucks allowed on the island. Only transportation available is bicycle, horse, or foot. Only cars on the island are emergency vehicles. Very nice place to visit. I highly recommend vacationing there during the Lilac Festival. Watch out for the horse poop though!

Not the coolest but it was a fun ride down final. Look at the video shot January 10, 2009.
