Weird garbage data mixed in with ASA99 on Nov 19

flightaware.com/live/flight/ASA99

This flight track path goes all over the place. Looking at the track log, some other points mixed in by vancouver center that are strange. (40-60 kts around 3600 feet)

Any idea what happened here?

Whenever you start looking at flights that leave US airspace, the data may be unreliable. Usually, flights outside US airspace have this warning ‘At least part of this flight occurs outside of FlightAware’s service area. Information on this page may be unreliable.’, but I assume this does not have the warning because the flight is between two US Airports and the system can not tell it passes over Canada.

EDIT: And so people in the future can understand what you are talking about, you’ll want to use this link:

There was probably another flight in the air identified as ASA99 (usually a mistaken shortening of ASAn99), so the positions got mixed resulting in the temporary zigzag behavior.

Blaming Canada is always an option.
