upcoming AN-124 flights

Since there’s no runway in Tanzania capable of handling an AN125, the cargo on that tractor-trailer that cfijames saw must be the high-capacity parachutes that will be attached to the turbine during the stopover at Shannon.

Yes, there is at least one runway capable of handing the AN-225 in Tanzania! It’s at Nairobi. And there’s probably more.

I’m sitting here going “What the hell did I do now? I swear, it wasn’t me!! I was at the Tulsa vs. UTEP game when all of this was going down and Saturday, I was letting my voice recover.” Then I realized that James must have been drunk…

I wish I had been…would’ve at least given me an adequate excuse!

Nairobi, Tanzania ? Did I miss another coup/war/invasion ? Dar es Salaam’s runway is 9800ft, Kilimanjaro is 11800 but it’s almost 3000ft higher.

Yeah, Dami: Nairobi is in Kenya. Next time do a search before trying to show off your geographical prowess. :smiling_imp:

Sorry - you’re right. Nairobi is in Kenya.
Depending on the landing weight the AN-225 could still land on a 9800 foot long runway and, again depending on weight, take off from it.

snicker<
At least he admitted it…
I’ll admit it when I’m wrong. I’m sick today so my African Geography Section of my brain was moving things around.

Although, with Africa, you never know what city is in what country from day to day!
Hi all, cought you posts about antonov 225 and thought i’d inform everyone there is a video of it landing at KRDU on youtube. I was fortunate enough to skip out of work early enough to catch it in time. I even convinced the fiance to watch it depart at midnight…couldn’t have asked for a better day at the airport

But since I’m such a nice guy ill do it for ya.

One of the 124’s came into KMDT a few years back, when I still worked for Emery on the airport…

I had some pictures of it floating somewhere, I’ll have to see if I can find them…
