Honestly, what do people get out of having a high rated photo on a public website (no offense Flightaware staff)? Is it a self esteem thing? I posted some photos once, just ones I took that I thought I would share. I honestly haven’t looked to see if anyone ever looked at them, much less voted. I did see one was picked by Flightaware for the newsletter, but that is not why I uploaded them.
This also applies to all the people that search the internet for others photos to post them here! Get out of the basement, there is life out there!
+1
ranks up there with the constant need to verify the validity of the data posted here. This isn’t a life and death service here…
Well duh,… it’s obvious this guy self votes almost all his photos as “excellent” and then he gets his little buddies to do the same, no matter how boring they are.
At least they aren’t as bad as the five-rated photos of fences that keep getting posted.
…or screen captures of airports from Google Maps with street names and businesses embedded…
Another strange pattern of 5-star votes:
OK we’ve addressed one issue of vote fraud, retroactively.
We appreciate reports but in the future, it’s easier if you link to a suspicious photo rather than to a user.
Rick: How can you close me up? On what grounds?
Captain Renault: I’m shocked, shocked to find that gambling is going on in here!
[a croupier hands Renault a pile of money]
Croupier: Your winnings, sir.
Captain Renault: [sotto voce] Oh, thank you very much.
[aloud]
Captain Renault: Everybody out at once!
