Raspberry Pi 5 question

I recently purchased the Pi 5 and was looking on the site and it does not mention if the 5 is compatible? Can it be used and if there are any specific issues that are different than the previous model, and what should i look out for? Thanks

It would be at least compatible if you are using the Piaware package on top of Raspberry OS.

For the Piaware image somebody needs to answer that question who is using it already.

Thanks for the reply. Appreciate it

Many would said that the Pi 5 is overkill for ADSB but buying an older Pi is going to get harder and harder. The main thing that I have found is that your power supply is going of an issue if it is not big enough. While most of the time one would not need the full 27watts of a recommended power supply, when the CPU spikes from time to time you can have oddness if your power supply is not large enough such as the radio dropping it connection to the raspberry randomly. I use POE and had a 3amp 5v supply and it would flake out about once a week. After upgrading to a 4amp, it has been stable. Now my location is a very extreme case as I run an Airspy with an amp and a standard SDR for 978 and I run a GPS receiver.

The PiAware SD Card image is compatible with Raspberry Pi 5.

Works for me on raspberry Pi 5, and probably overkill in terms of the power but it doesn’t mean it has more than enough resources for the future

My Pi4 was flaky with the 3 amp with the Airspy and powered amp/filter. I also had two 5V fan running off the GPIO pins. I put a 4 (or 5?) Amp POE with a USB port and 5V power out - no issue at all.
