I fully agree with obj. The existing OS is too old, and attempting to upgrade installed software on it will never be trouble-free, both during and after upgrade. Best solution is a fresh install of OS (currently Raspbian Jessie), and then install latest versions of decoder & data feeder software.
If dump1090-mutability is desired, it can be installed on Raspbian Jessie by building .deb package from source code. This can be done in two ways:
(1) Automated install using JProchazka’s script (Click here)
