Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) will resume flights for Colombo, Sri Lanka, by March 2011, according to statement of Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi’s quoted by Pakistani news channels.
The Foreign Minister was talking to media on the subject of relations between Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
PIA to Resume Colombo Service Before Cricket World Cup 2011
According to December 18, 2010 PIA Press Release, PIA is planning to start flights to Colombo, Sri Lanka, before opening of Cricket World Cup 2011. The date of commencement of Colombo flights will be announced soon.
The first match of Cricket World Cup 2011 will be played on February 19, 2011, so we should expect to see PIA initiating Colombo flights before that date.
It’s pertinent to mention here that Pakistan cricket team will play all its six matches in Group A of world cup’s first round in Sri Lanka.
Year 2005 PIA timetable shows twice a week non-stop flights operated between Karachi and Colombo with Boeing 737-300.
Why don’t you set up a new topic that deals strictly with PIA? You could name it something like “Pakistan International Airlines News”. This way all of the data you post would be in the same topic.
If you named it PIA news then people could get confused and think it is news about Peoria, IL airport.
