Hi, both my brother and I got our RPI feeders working (in no small part to just requiring a burn of the image and simple config.txt mods). Thanks Flight Aware developers! I can see his stats page but can not seem to access his map. The link to the flightaware anywhere of my OWN map is readily available as a link but if I go to his account via URL I can see his stats but no weblink - gone daddy gone.
You’re welcome to try on my map if that helps. This would be in the FlightAware web page - I’m not jazzed about tunneling into my or his own local network. Is this do-able or do I have to log into his flightaware account (the brute force method)?
I believe you must both be on the same local network for URL to work, or both on the same account and use AnyWhere SkyAware. I have three active receivers on my account and that’s how I do it.
Note: I have a receiver that I use remotely at times and on 978 instead of 1090. They both use the same I.D. # . It seems to work locally and via Anywhere SkyAware.
Do you mean “account ID” or the 32 character “Unique Identifier” ?
It’s quite normal to have multiple receivers registered to a single account, but multiple receivers on one UID won’t play well.
Hi, thanks for getting back to me so quickly. No, two different accounts (I have one, my brother has one) each with one receiver only. I am logged into my account on FlightAware. I can see my OWN map, but if I click his site on the ADSB coverage map (you click the dot, see his username, click it, and it shows his statistics, ) , I see his account, but can not view HIS map of HIS receiver’s reception of aircraft. Neither can he in the other direction. Can we grant each other permission to do so?
OK thanks. I think we’ll leave things as is for the moment. Here’s another question: I would like to know if I can, just on my local site or my own Flightaware account covering my own site, get an alert for Squawk 7700?
It’s one of those: “No with a but, yes with an if” situations.
Out of the box - no.
If instead of the FA image, you start with a PiOS install and add the FA package, you’ll have a Pi you can log into remotely using VNC (provided in the OS image).
