New Design for the 737???

I hope not…

Agreed. If it ain’t broke…

It’s about time they improve the 737. The basic design is over 40 years old. The last major upgrade first saw service in 1998 (737-700).

With advances in aeronautical engineering in the last few years, it is time to upgrade the 737 again.

I can see them improving the wing, making passenger comfort improvements, and making more use of composites.

Just don’t change the frame… In my book it’s the second best looking aircraft, the 777-200F topping it…(my opinion)

You are so young, Will. There are many better looking airlinersin my oh-so-humble and usually right  opinion. Among them, in no particular order:

B707-320
B727-200
L-1011
Constellation
DC-8-61/63 series
A340

You are so old, David. Those are all old aircraft! A340 is kinda newer… Those are good lookin’ birds, but I still like the 777-200F.

Sorry dami, just had to.

I’m not too old to tell a young whipper snapper like you what’s great looking aircraft, old or not!

Out of the ones you mentioned, I think the Constellation is the best looking aircraft…

The 737 has reached the end of improvement possibilities. New design to compete at the lower capacity with Embraer, Bombardier and the Asians. The 737NG is good for another decade, unless Airbus comes up with a quantum leap but I doubt they have the $ to do so.

In short… if it ain’t broke, break it, and make it better.

BL.

Nice work Will! Shove it right back in his face. :stuck_out_tongue:

Hopefully they’ll figure out the composite and engine lessons from the 787 first. The only way they can improve on the design is to lighten it up and hang more efficient engines on there. I think the 737 has the lowest actual csm and most predictable actual costs.

Nice work Will! Shove it right back in his face.

You Know I didn’t mean that, but it is funny!

I have to respectfully disagree with two FA veterans demi and will.
Though the Connie is a great lookin aeroplane, the good ol’ DC-3 is the best looking airliner and airplane.
(OK, ok, maybe it’s cause I’m biased cause I fly one, but still… 8) )

Here on FA check out N17334 pics and tell me it’s not the best looking airplane ya ever saw.

  1. It’s dami - 2. I’m not a vet… :open_mouth:

Nuts. I knew I shouldn’t post before I wake up. My apology to dami!
(I had an aggie-moment)
Will, I consider anyone who’s made as many posts as you have, a veteran on this site. I see your posts all over the place and I enjoy seeing your comments and alot of the other regular posters.

A return note on subject is the 737-800 does have one REALLY COOL feature that no other airliner (that I know of -somebody correct me if I’m wrong) has… The Heads-Up-Display!!
8)

  1. It’s damiross
  2. Vet doesn’t always mean a person who had military service.
A person who is long experienced or practiced in an activity or capacity

Believe all 737NG have them. I think Southwest also put them in on their 737-300’s.

    I know that… I’m not an FA vet!

Don’t worry either is dami. He spends his flight time looking out the side window
