Mode-S Beast & GPS Antenna options

Hi all. Mode-S Beast & GPS Decoder Board, has anyone got one and what antenna are you using that is allowing the GPS to be used? This is not just a plane Mode S Beast which I have. I’ve got my hands on some of the boards. They are what are typically supplied with an FA Flight Feeder setup but I am finding zero info about antenna options that support GPS data, Photo of the board attached. Not sure if the SMA has a DC out for active GPS antenna options. Cheers

It was discussed here a few years ago

Sadly that topic doesn’t even remotely touch the answer much alike many of the topics on the forum.

Actually there’s some information to be decoded there.

It could be a built-in GPS reciever in the antenna itself (jetvision model)

Or this part:

That’s the thing. It look like it requires their OPA 5 antenna to use the GPS as single setup and or you need an active GPS and use a splitter.

Still no info if the unit is emitting DC or if you have to use a bias tee.

Maybe you should read the information on the jetvision site  I’m sure you can some information there.

None for the item because they don’t retail it as it’s for FA custom build.

It’s got a built-in bias-tee.

Yes you need a hybrid 1090 + active GPS antenna such as the jetvision one.

I suggest you contact jetvision for support as the board has some quirks beyond a standard Beast.
