I realize that I should have posted this sooner, but there’s nothing I can do about it now.
Anyway, I was planespotting at SAT back on October 2nd, and I noticed a lot of what I suspect were charters, which were all arriving and parking on an apron away from the terminals. Among the planes I saw were an American 767-300, an Atlas Air 767-200, a Kalitta Air Charters DC-9, and a USA Jet DC-9. Also a couple of American MD-83s.
I’m just curious if anyone has any ideas about what was going on in San Antonio that day (or maybe the next day). Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
AA 767 & MD83s were diversions , the Atlas 767 took the Spurs to Germany for pre season games, don’t. know for sure about the old DC9s, maybe car parts for the Toyota plant. Did you post the photos of them?
I did upload a photo of the USA Jet DC-9. However, no history shows up for the registration.
Thanks for y’all’s help!
Kallitta’s and USA Jet’s DC-9’s are now cargo only. So, likely car parts.
Would you happen to know why the American flights were diverted?
USA Jet would be listed as “JUS” as an identifier. Nice set of SAT photos! Quite a variety of stuff, that Frontier brought the New Mexico Lobos to play UTSA here, the Republic E190 most likely was a gambling charter. 2 767s side by side real rare here and a new SWA livery, I’m jealous!
That always makes me laugh, even if I know the answer.
