I am feeding an ADS_B signal via PiAware. I understand that I can view my feed by pointing my browser to my RPi’s IP address, but I am wondering if there is a live map view available on FA’s website? For example, if I am not on my local network but want to view a live map, which includes my feed and all of the other feeders on FA. Sorry for the basic question. Thank you.
If you search on your nearest airport at the top of the page, you will see traffic centered on it. Zoom to include your location. Does that show whay you want?
That appears to be somewhat delayed.
From the FAQs:
How live is FlightAware’s tracking and status data? (Back to top)
The data displayed on FlightAware.com is typically 30 seconds delayed from real time. Some data in the US is five minutes delayed due to government regulation.

Understood. However, see also: flightaware.com/adsb/faq
“What are the benefits to me of feeding data to FlightAware?
…Users sending ADS-B data to FlightAware will see live (non-delayed) data…”
While this could be referring to my ability to see my data independent of the fact that i am streaming to FA, seeing live data would not be a benefit to streaming to FA…i get to see my data regardless. Also, i guess it could depend on what they mean by “data.”
all i am looking for is a map similar to FR24’s. If FA doest have that, its okay. I just wanted to confirm.
Thanks.
The following is probably incomplete and possibly wrong however —
I’ve only been working with FA for about a week. FA does have a map.
The connection to FA (at least by piaware for Raspberry Pi) is two-way and I believe over an encrypted link. You send them data and they return, in near real-time, data about the aircraft and flight ID. In addition, if enabled, you become part of the MLAT network, so you get undelayed track data based on MLAT.
I know little about FR24 other than it’s a commercial service similar to FA. I don’t know if FA is better, worse, or the same.

FlightAware does not have a map similar to FR24 (a world map of all flights).
the “live” map FA refers to is the map generated by your station on your monitor (needs no internet connection to view).
great. thank to all who took the time to respond.
Well, there is flightaware.com/live/ (I’m not sure whether that has adhoc flights on it - flights with no flightplan)
/live/ will show adhoc/position only flights as long as it is turned on in the account settings (flightaware.com/account/manage)
very cool–thanks again
