Flightaware.com vs. adsbexchange.com

Comparing: FlightAware Live vs. https://globe.adsbexchange.com/

Result: Signals on adsbexchange are much faster on the map than on the publice flightaware-site which is completely not real time while my own feeded signals on ADS-B Flight Tracking - FlightAware are real time and as fast shown as on adsbexchange.

Question: How can I see the public map of flightaware in real time?

Today pretty the same:

FlightAware Live is not real time at all.

Are there any settings I can do to make it real time?

There’s a delay of 2 minutes between the real position of an aircraft and the display on FA Skyaware Anywhere.
This is due to the fact that the data is collected at a station, sent to the server, processed at the server and then sent back again to your display.
So the only real-time positions to see is to watch it directly on the local interface.

There are ways to see your antennas (if you have multiple setups) in real-time, abcd567 has a program called mixer that combines the local views into one radar overview.
This will only show the traffic you are recieving and not the traffic of others.

Thanks for the explanation :+1:

But why others like flightradar and adsbexchange don’t show this delay?

Flightradar has almost the same delay. Added to that, Flightradar only processes the MLAT results of their own feeders and not the input from the raspberry pi feeders. So you will see less MLAT results on their page.

Adsbexchange I can’t judge since I don’t use their systems

I would disagree on that. Flightradar does have a slight delay, but clearly not two minutes.
If i am monitoring aircraft around me, the difference of position is less than a mile compared to their reported location on the maps (local of my Radarcape device and Flightradar map)
The same i can tell for some other sites like adsb.fi (I don’t feed adsbexchange either)

EDIT: Just checked a few flights and compared it between my local feeder map and the Flightaware map.
The delay is not two minutes but approx. 30 seconds.
But what i have identified is a difference of map position in case the aircraft is making a turn. Then the flight path is less accurate on Flightaware. This is adjusted once the aircraft goes straight again.

Thanks for that verification, at least you are seeing the delay, I think the length of the delay is not important but it is noticeable.

Sure, at least for my site i can live with the short delay.
