Installed Piaware 3.1.0 from .img; dump1090 not running

Hello,

I ordered a new Pro Stick receiver and SD card. I installed the piaware-sd-card-3.1.0.img and got the system running, but dump1090 doesn’t seem to be running. piaware-status returns this:

pi@piaware:~$ sudo piaware-status
PiAware master process (piaware) is running with pid 434.
PiAware ADS-B client (faup1090) is not running.
PiAware mlat client (fa-mlat-client) is not running.
Local ADS-B receiver (dump1090) is not running.

no program appears to be listening for connections on port 30005.
faup1090 is NOT connected to the ADS-B receiver.
piaware is NOT connected to FlightAware.

got 'couldn't open socket: connection refused'
dump1090 is NOT producing data on localhost:30005.

What should I try next?

Thanks,
Brian

PROBLEM SOLVED!

I was using a bad USB extender cable. Cable removed and now it’s working properly.

Thanks for reading…

pi@piaware:~$ sudo piaware-status
PiAware master process (piaware) is running with pid 437.
PiAware ADS-B client (faup1090) is running with pid 500.
PiAware mlat client (fa-mlat-client) is running with pid 617.
Local ADS-B receiver (dump1090-fa) is running with pid 434.

dump1090-fa (pid 434) is listening for connections on port 30005.
faup1090 is connected to the ADS-B receiver.
piaware is connected to FlightAware.

dump1090 is producing data on localhost:30005.

glad that works, but cable extender was not the problem, cable extender can affect your adsb receiver but not dump1090. i think what was the solution was unplug and plug again.

A bad USB cable can produce exactly the symptoms seen, it absolutely can affect dump1090.

If you would like to verify what programs are listening on what ports, you can run this command:

sudo netstat -natp

This command will show you what ports are listening, which ones are connected and what programs are running on what ports

I found 8080 wasn’t working. Just rebooted the Pi. Nothing else. Now up and running with the improved display. Just not sure where I agreed to upgrade to this version that cuts out the competition.[/quote]
