FlyNYC, I disagree with you that the original, once great and mighty Pan Am, did not operate Jetstreams. I should know, as I used to fly them. Pan Am Express (1986-1991), wholly owned by the original Pan American World Airways, operated the Jetstream J-32 (all brand new in 1990 and not J-31s), from their Miami hub from 1990 until they were sold to Trans World Airlines as Trans World Express in 1991.
pfp217, Pan Am Express (1986-1991) was owned by the real Pan Am, and operated ATR42s, J32s, and DHC-7s. The similarity between the two was that they were both part of Pan Am Corporation and the pilots were all on the same seniority list.
Yes, Boston-Maine was a sad use of the great Pan Am name. Pan Am Express’ Miami operation was short-lived, but good fun. It’s too bad its short history is not better documented.
Kind of off topic, but I remember reading a quote from Sir Richard Branson that went something like… “How does one become a millionaire? Easy, take a billionaire and buy an airline.”
Ehhh…it’s no big thing… You just quoted some drivel from a nutjob who was suspected of killing a woman while she was jogging, and is also suspected of foul play in the disappearance of his roomate. Oh…and I said “was” as after all of that he went back to mommy’s house in CA and killed himself.
Since this thread has been reborn, I would get a B777, put in several bedrooms and have Mile High Air. Have a bar area…a fleet of one. OK Flame away lol 8)
There’s nothing to say. He demonstrated a very odd character here but how could any of us have known… And the alleged crimes took place in my back yard and I didn’t know until the sleuthing by a member here brought it to light…then it took another member to bring it to my attention.
Sorry bro… WiserTime and I are getting stimulus money together and launching that endeavor soon. Waaaay ahead of you here. However, We’ll let you fly for us as we count the revenue.
Thanks Beech - glad our business plan’s still on track. And yeah - “count the revenue”- that’s exactly what I’ll do. I’ll be on the plane, “counting the revenue”… 8)
Of course…BYOB…however!!..rentals will always be available. One never knows what kind of certificate one would want…ie; double Mile hi Club, Triple…etc, its a very 'fluid" environment…have to stay ahead of the competition!!!
