I shot this video this morning of a Grob motor glider on departure. Note how this take-off becomes anything but normal. The aircraft was departing runway 26 at KBTP. The runway length is 4801 ft.
Latch malfunction? Checklist malfunction?
Yikes! I think my reaction would be similar to the pilot’s: hold onto it until there’s sufficient altitude/stability to take care of it with both hands. At least that’s what it looked like he did.
How much runway was left? Surprised he just didn’t pop it back down.
The runway is 4801 ft long.
Should’ve just come back down. Throttle idle and away you go.
