I did not know anybody flew the SP’s anymore.

Mainly heads of states and NASA

The only thing I can think of is dropping off/picking up someone at the Cleveland Clinic - probably the best heart hospital in the world. Is there any other reason to intentionally go to Cleveland??

Iranair flies one or two SP’s.

Owner of Fry’s Electronics has one, N747A (blocked).

I didn’t know that, :open_mouth:

FA is an exciting world of learning and fun

The Saudi Royal family has used the Cleveland Clinic since the early 1970s.

They also use the Mao Clinic in Rochester, MN.

The Sands SPs can be seen here.

One thing I like about these is the goldish/copper colored engine cones. Distinctive!

I guess if you have all the money in the world (and all the gas too), go wherever you can get the best treatment - even if it’s on the other side of the world. Hell, if I had a 747 at my disposal, I would too. And “Mao”? Like the dynasty? Haha - no, I know what you mean…

Why, oh why did I leave out the “y” ???

I’m sorry … is it just me, or was/is the 747SP one of the ugliest aircraft ever built? Nothing graceful about it at all!

You mean just because it’s stubby, and roughly 30% tailfeathers by weight?

Actually, the “Fugliest Airplanes” thread turned up a whole bucketload of uglier planes than that. (That thread sure was a great idea. Thx, cfijames. Now we can just link to it and not have to dig the pix out all over again. Or look at 'em.)
