Flight Cancellation Reason

Is there a way to find out what the issue was causing the cancellation?

The details we received were:

"We’re very sorry, this flight is cancelled because there’s an unexpected maintenance issue with the aircraft.
Unexpected maintenance issues can happen when we detect problems with aircraft systems like electrics, tires, cabin equipment, or hydraulics that need to be fixed for safety reasons and will take longer than a reasonable flight delay to complete.

This applies to all customers on this booking."

All passengers were booked on the same flight the following day. No vouchers were given out, and we were told to find a hotel and would be reimbursed up to $300 after submitting receipts. The only problem: it’s a long weekend here with multiple events going on, and the hotels all seem to be filled up.

After exiting the secured area in order to hotel hunt, I returned only to be denied re-entry because my flight is not until tomorrow. I have to wait until 3AM. I see we’re scheduled on a different aircraft, but I’m still curious what the issue actually was.

Interestingly, in Austin before boarding my plane to Toronto, a Hawaiian Airlines plane was delayed because they were “changing attire”. Yeah, I know, “a tire”, but attire is more fun to think of. Perhaps the flight attendants were changing into hula skirts.
