Filtering Airplane Tail Numbers

Dear FlightAware team,

I do my Private License at a flight school. I want to install your great ADS-B receiver solution at the school. The idea is: we can see all our airplanes flying around the airport, to and back from practice area, on cross-country flights etc.

Is there a way to create a list of all ‘our airplanes’ and just these ones are displayed on the map?
It is so hard to select (via mouse hovering) ‘our’ airplanes, to find these in the list.

So, an option to have two mode: a) all airplanes, and b) just a display filter and these airplanes (tail numbers listed in it) - it would be great.

Would it be possible to filter airplanes based on reported tail numbers and just to see those?

Best regards
Torsten Jaekel

Skyview itself doesn’t have this facility. I think VRS (http://www.virtualradarserver.co.uk/) may be able to do it, it can consume data from your Piaware install and has a much larger range of display options. Note that for obvious reasons you won’t be able to track your aircraft when they’re out of sight of your receiver.

Alternatively, if you’re looking for something commercially supported you might want to look at FA TV (https://flightaware.com/commercial/tv/) which has a fleet view and will integrate data from all our data sources, not just the one receiver.

Hello Torsten–

If you would please get in touch with me directly at joseph.monk@flightaware.com, I will be happy to assist you with this matter.
