Fastest Delayed by the Slowest!

A runway at JFK airport in NYC was briefly closed Wednesday when migrating turtles decided to take a shortcut across the runway from one part of Jamaica Bay to another.

“The invasion began unfolding, slowly, at around 8:30 a.m., when an American Eagle flight crew reported seeing three turtles while taxiing out for departure. Before long, a chorus of pilots was radioing the tower to report turtles either on the end of a runway that juts out into the water, or approaching on the grass.”

That’s pretty ironic. I can definitely visualize where that happened in the swamp of 4L I’m sure. The only place I ever had to taxi back from to pick up more gas, I’ll bet they had to when those turtles messed things up.

P.S. You know the link police are gonna bust you for that looooong link.

Did it wrap on your display? Sorry, I checked it on one of my smaller display (1024X768) laptops and it came up OK.

Here’s the shorter link: tinyurl.com/lyxbkc

It wrapped fine James. I think he was poking fun at someone

Really Tiny Link

Reminds me of being out in 29 Palms CA in the Marines and having to move ranges because of the tortious’s.

The bogs surrounding the ranges at Ft. Dix are famous for the number of snapping turtles inhabiting them. During my short tenure there as a DI we never expended a single calorie moving turtles out of the impact areas or changing ranges simply because they were over run with mating reptiles.

Things have certainly changed, and for the better.
