If it is, wow. Talk about going early. I know that in the old WAC, teams from Texas, Oklahoma, and Louisiana would leave on Thursday for a Saturday game in Hawaii, but that was usually all commercial travel.
Air Force vs. Houston is supposedly still on at the scheduled kickoff time of 2:30PM. UH said that worst case scenario they would postpone kickoff a few hours to 7PM.
Rice is away and still sucks at life, as well as football.
UTEP is still licking their wounds from their beating by Texas with a bye week, while Mike Price scouts out his newest “investment” (aka, strip club)
UNT is at LSU and they announced today that the game in Baton Rouge is on as scheduled
Texas may be a different story with their home game scheduled to be on ABC against Arkansas
Texas Tech hosts SMU and is trying to figure out if the over/under is really going to be 110 points, and they are far enough away to where Ike won’t bother them
Texas A&M is off and is still trying to figure out how the hell they lost to Arkansas St. at home
TCU is at Stanford…Horned Frogs vs. a Tree…who wins that one?
As far as the other schools (Sam Houston, Texas Southern, Texas State, Texas College), they could play on live TV over the weekend in prime time and the NHL would still have higher ratings, therefore, are going to see who has the better rowing teams due to the rain…
Long standing joke among Tulsa fans since he is the reason that in CUSA, the student section can no longer be directly behind the visiting team bench. Anyway, he was fired as Alabama’s head coach just a few weeks or couple of months because of running up a tab at a strip club in Tampa and putting it on his expense report for the University of Alabama to pay for. That is how he wound up being the coach at UTEP and generally the main target of heckling when UTEP comes to Tulsa.
On a side note, the Houston vs. Air Force game has been moved to Ford Stadium in Dallas. Hmmm, maybe SMU might get that stadium filled after all…
Texas vs. Arkansas (was on ABC) moved to Sept. 27
Stanford-TCU will be played, however, kickoff has been moved up to Noon Central, obviously water may not be good for trees.
McNeese St. cancelled the game against Cal Poly-SLO…like anyone outside of SLO and Kern County actually cares.
Oklahoma State just announced they are moving their all important pillow fight against Missouri State up to 12:05 Central due to the forecast of heavy rain from what will be left of Ike.
Two things come to mind with this move. One, so much for Gundy (Ok. St head coach) being a man. Who moves a football game because of rain? Thought that was only baseball who caved to rain (which it should rightfully so because of small projectiles being hurled towards another person at 90mph). Two, Stillwater really shouldn’t see much in the way of rain from Ike if it holds the projected path.
