yeah, why spend 45 mins driving, plus about 30 mins going through security, then 30 mins on the ground before taking off, then about a 45 min flight, then about probably 45 mins to get to the stadium (so about 3.25 hours total) when it takes about 4 hours to get there by bus, which is more convenient anyways. it’s a tossup for sure.
by the way, the reason ECU football flies out of Kinston and not Greenville is because a guy from Kinston really wanted them to fly out of there instead, so to get that, he donated a few million to the athletic department, so now he gets what he wants. that is from an inside source, so I wouldnt think it is BS. The basketball team, baseball team, softball team, etc all fly out of Greenville, where I work, so that is fun, and all of the opposing teams fly into Greenville, but the football team doesnt, for that reason.
thanks. yeah it was an amazing game. pins and needles the whole game.
gettin a little cocky there on the C-USA game huh I think ECU has the weapons this season to win the C-USA Championship no matter who they play. Realistically, I think their only real threat for the rest of the season is WVU next week, and UCF Nov 2.
Nah, you still have one more year under Fedora. I will say this, he was smart GTFO of Stillwater, Okla. St. has another year like the last 3, he would have been canned with the rest of the staff. Then again, be careful, T Boone may want him back if Gundy can’t do any better this year.
Anyway, what sucks is that I am going to be in Hattiesburg the NEXT weekend for work. I was hoping to catch a So. Miss game. Oh well.
If WVU still is going to come to ECU for the game this weekend, assuming the storm doesnt cancel the game, they will be here tomorrow afternoon. I assume they will be flying in on a 757 (boss told me it is Delta), as they usually bring team, coaches, staff, and some fans all together. Looking forward to…unloading all of their luggage…blah. I’ll post the flight plan when I see it.
haha, well, no they are not too good, but that is not their job. that is OUR job, and the team/charter company pays us good money to include that in our job. Every charter in and out of here does.
as it turns out, they are flying here in a 737-800. no idea if they will be leaving the plane here overnight or flying it back somewhere, then back again tomorow. here is the flight plan for them coming here
No way. It is a 3 hour drive by bus. They left this afternoon on charter buses. Besides, flying into DFW or DAL and then having the drive BACK up to Denton would be pointless and take about the same amount of time, not to mention that the 6000’ runway probably wouldn’t handle the jets needed to accommodate the team, coaches, trainers, boosters, equipment managers, video guys, and TU big wigs. When they play at SMU or TCU, they do fly into DFW, or at least we did when I worked with the team.
That being said, I am surprised that OU hasn’t expanded RWY 17/35 yet to handle charter aircraft so OU and visiting teams don’t have to fight with OKC traffic between OKC and Norman. I know that Ok. St.'s athletic department (aka, T. Boone Pickens) helped pay for the expansion at SWO so the football team didn’t have to fly in and out of OKC or Tulsa.
