I am interested to see what Hawaii is bringing to Florida. Also from working at GNV in the past I remember most of the opposing teams arriving late afternoon the day prior to the game. Would Hawaii make a earlier arrival due to the time of the trip and some rest before practices?
Yeah, that and the Beavs are playing Stanford tomorrow. Also I think that’s probably Vanderbilt. CVG is the closest airport for Delta to fly into Oxford.
Awwww, come on wazzu. They are an improving team according to Gundy. Just because their improved team can’t finish a regular season above .500 doesn’t mean anything…
Beat the crap out of the Aggots (as they are so fondly referred to here in Tulsa).
How would they get from Hawaii to Atlanta? Unless they got a great deal, it doesn’t make sense for me for them to go to ATL and then transfer to a different airline.
Not sure…but I believe I read last year how their travel situation was a lot more hectic than most teams’. I believe their charter company will only take them so far on the main land and they get another charter from there.
Just as a follow-up. Heard on a local show this morning that Hawaii spent 2 days in Atlanta practicing and adjusting to time. Then came down to GNV Thursday. That would make sence for the Southwest flight.
That reminds me of when we moved to Hawaii in 1972. The MAC (now AMC) charter was a B707 of Pan Am. When we got to HNL, there was all sorts of baseball equipment in the baggage claim area. It seems the Hawaii Islanders (minor league team of San Diego at the time) had also just arrived.
Another thing I remember is that they had pineapple juice dispensers in the baggage claim area. The juice was free.
I tried to find the flights for the ECU-VT game in Charlotte. Couldnt find a flight out of Blacksburg into Charlotte or Concord, nor a flight from Kinton (that is where the ECU football team flies out of, not Greenville, where I work, so I would know) to Charlotte or Concord. so not sure. It is only about 4 hours from Blacksburgh to Charlotte, and about 5 from Greenville to Charlotte, so they may have just driven?
EDIT: I do know that next Friday night, West Virginia will be flying in to Greenville (KPGV) on a Delta flight, but not sure what type or time. Leaving Saturday night.
