Can't get dump 978 working

I’ll wait until a nice sat/sun to worry about it. With the uavionix beacons becoming popular I think we’ll see more and more uat as we get closer to the end of 2019. I’m within the mode c veil of a class b airport so adsb will be required.

What antenna are you using?

Also to be quite honest i don’t know what the “pre-programmed” part means in the dongle description.

Two “nano” sized SDRs, 1x pre-programmed for Stratux 1090ES, 1x pre-programmed for Stratux 978 MHz/UAT. Does not include antennas.
New : Now with updated R820T2 tuner.

So i’m not sure it’s receiving stuff at other frequencies.

You could do a spectrum scan, that should show you if it has some kind of filter or is specific to a certain frequency.
(Do I Need A Filter?)

Instead of being software defined the frequency is preset, I believe. Wire antenna for testing but I’m less than a mile from a ga airport so I should see some results on a sunny vfr day. At some point I’ll order a better antenna and receiver. This is stuff I had on hand for testing.

If that was true, then Nooelect set of 2 dongles for Stratux will not work with Statux, as these are NOT pre-tuned to any frequency and both can be used for 1090 mhz. Actually these were SERIALIZED. for stratux, which you now changed to 00001090 and 00000978 to suite dump1090-fa & dump978-fa

.

https://www.amazon.com/ask/questions/Tx26SF9YGCEDYX8

https://github.com/cyoung/stratux/wiki/SDR-Serials

.

The Stratux dongles are serialized/tagged in this format:
stx:978:-24
and
stx:1090:-28

not mine anymore, 0 is the blue flightaware dongle and 1 is the stratux dongle.

I have an antenna and filter on the way, just couldn’t figure out the cabling until I get the parts on hand first. More attic time. Greeeeat. This little pi is a trooper, it lives in a hot/cold attic and never complains. I haven’t restarted it myself or touched it in almost 2 years.

anyway, I got some messages!!!

May 31 01:01:36 piaware piaware[377]: 317344 msgs recv’d from dump1090-fa (2187 in last 5m); 315680 msgs sent to FlightAware

My Skyview for 978 just keeps showing the sun looking thing and line showing it’s loading. I’ve upgraded to 3.7.1 and have my data going to FA without any issues. Any help would be appreciated.

Ctrl+F5 (reload browser) several times.
May be Ctr+Shift+Delete (clear browser cache)

Let’s see if it’s really running:

Was flooding heavy? Did you shut-off the valve to stop overflow? .

Your RPi is too slow for dump978-fa and dump1090-fa at the same time.

I have dump1090-fa turned off. I’m going running dump978-fa on a RPi Zero W.

That might well be too slow for dump978-fa.
soapy-sdr seems to use quite some CPU.

dump1090-fa is much better optimized.

Can any one tell what is the format of following output: raw, beast, decoded, or something else?

I believe it’s IQ format.

Baseband I/Q samples, unsigned integers, 8 bits I + 8 bits Q.
It’s the direct output of the SDR with no further interpretation or demodulation. You need a demodulator (like dump978!) to do something useful with that data.

What SoapySDR does? In old dump978 there was no SoapySDR, but dump978-fa uses SopaySDR.
