Upgraded, but now looks like not getting UAT data?
[2020-09-30 18:44 EDT] 0 msgs recv’d from dump978; 0 msgs sent to FlightAware
[2020-09-30 18:45 EDT] Started faup978 (pid 914) to connect to dump978-fa
[2020-09-30 18:45 EDT] faup978(914): Connecting to localhost:30978
and maybe restarting RPI will help
Rebooted the whole thing. still no go. Are there any changes to the config specific to UAT? I have this:
rtlsdr-device-index 00001090 # value set at /boot/piaware-config.txt:87
rtlsdr-gain 49 # value set at /boot/piaware-config.txt:60
uat-receiver-type sdr # value set at /boot/piaware-config.txt:85
uat-sdr-device driver=rtlsdr,serial=00000978 # value set at /boot/piaware-config.txt:86
uat-sdr-gain 49 # value set at /boot/piaware-config.txt:88
you remember what settings you had before the update
Thanks for the info @abcd567 . I recall @obj mentioned kernel issues with 64 bit a while ago. I will check with him.
They didn’t change… but now this:
pi@piaware:~ $ rtl_test -t
Found 2 device(s):

1: Realtek, RTL2832U, SN: 00001090

@wodzu99 did the browser change help?
Two PiAware (32bit) sites with https://www.rtl-sdr.com/buy-rtl-sdr-dvb-t-dongles/ updated via MyADS-B https://flightaware.com/ painlessly. Nice job!
Yo @abcd567! Do you have a nice recipe for how to build PiAware 4.0 from source on 32-bit Linux?
Is it normal to get this reply from my device:
[2020-10-01 09:01 AEST] run-apt-get(21828): Automatic updates not available for OS pi24-raspbian:9 (Raspbian GNU/Linux 9 (stretch))
What do i need to do to install the update.
Not yet, too early, the ver 4.0 was released only 4 hours ago.
To do this, first I will have to install a 32-bit Linux distro on VM on 64-bit Win10. Which 32-bit Linux distro you are interested in? Debian, Ubuntu, something else? Do these have current 32-bit version?
Next I will attempt to build the piaware and dump1090-fa packages from source code. I will possibly try it on this weekend.
Mine is also that color for 978. However, when i hover over it with the mouse, it just says Connected to UAT Receiver but no recent data received. Which should be correct for me at least as i don’t believe there are any aircraft flying right now (almost dark, low ceiling, etc) using 978. It seems to be working when I check the status:
pi@piaware:~ $ piaware-status
PiAware master process (piaware) is running with pid 689.
PiAware master process (piaware) is running with pid 862.
PiAware ADS-B client (faup1090) is running with pid 1089.
PiAware ADS-B client (faup1090) is running with pid 1136.
PiAware ADS-B UAT client (faup978) is running with pid 4339.
PiAware mlat client (fa-mlat-client) is running with pid 1114.
PiAware mlat client (fa-mlat-client) is running with pid 1115.
Local ADS-B receiver (dump1090-fa) is running with pid 665.
Local ADS-B receiver (dump1090-fa) is running with pid 861.
Local ADS-B UAT receiver (dump978-fa) is running with pid 2303.dump1090-fa (pid 861) is listening for ES connections on port 30005.
dump978-fa (pid 2303) is listening for UAT connections on port 30978.
faup1090 is connected to the ADS-B receiver.
faup978 is connected to the ADS-B UAT receiver.
piaware is connected to FlightAware.dump1090 is producing data on localhost:30005.
dump978 is NOT producing data on localhost:30978.
Checked some other feeding sites also, didn’t see any UAT aircraft in the vicinity near me. It would be red if it wasn’t working I believe. Will watch it for a little longer to see but it maybe tomorrow before I can confirm it changes to green when there are more aircraft flying.
Yeah, I’d like Bias-T support too, but the rationale behind not supporting it still holds
(ie. some people are too stupid and will break their own toys)
The best compromise I can see is for the function to be included, but the command to be missing from the config file, therefor requireing a deliberate manual edit to add the instruction (not simply enable it).
Which 32-bit Linux distro you are interested in? Debian, Ubuntu, something else? Do these have current 32-bit version?
I believe I’m running Debian 10 32-bit. uname -a returns:
Linux raspberry 4.19.0-9-686-pae #1 SMP Debian 4.19.118-2+deb10u1 (2020-06-07) i686 GNU/Linux
Oddly, the update script on the My ADS-B page didn’t work for my, fairly old, SD card image (although the log showed it had updated a couple of megs of stuff). SSHing in and upgrading manually worked fine though.
This seems to be Raspberry Pi Desktop for PC and Mac
Heres mine
forgot version
Linux raspberrypi 5.4.51-v8+ #1333 SMP PREEMPT Mon Aug 10 16:58:35 BST 2020 aarch64 GNU/Linux
Works well with my Raspberry Pi 4 Model B(2GB) + SunFounder 3.5" touch screen.
Do I still have to install gpsd additionally for GPS?
Where can I find Piaware 4.0 for Radarcape? Thanks
Same here without any issues.
