A potentially dangerous question to ask...

Do the scientologists own any jets? I could somehow not imagine the upper hierarchy flying coach class.

Many of the followers of L. Ron have private aircraft that are made available for use by members. Whether there are any “official” aircraft can be checked in the FAA’s registry.

I think they prefer spaceships, they go a lot faster. But, when the spaceships are all booked, Travolta has a lot of jets, as well as Tom Cruise. Both of them are pilots.

I don’t know anything about the details of Scientology, but there are quite a few stories (some of which may be myths) about an airport called “San Miguel Ranch Airport” [NM53] in Las Vegas, New Mexico.

Remarks: “OWNER DESIRES ARPT NOT BE CHARTED.”

About 1,500 feet NE of the runway 22 threshold is the following ‘land carving.’

*“The symbol for the Church of Spiritual Technology is engraved into the Earth’s surface in Scientology’s Trementina Base, in a mountainous region of New Mexico [3], large enough to be seen from a high altitude [4] Former Church member Michael Pattinson has said that the circles are intended as signposts for reincarnated Scientologists who will come from outer space. [5]” *

N808T (which I believe is Tom Cruise’s Gulfstream IV) flies over las vegas quite a lot (maybe 2-3 times a month, on average). Whereas, John Travolta’s Boeing 707 (N707JT) only flies over Las Vegas 3-4 times a year.

This article http://leavingscientology.wordpress.com/2009/09/21/david-miscavige-lifestyles-of-the-rich-and-famous/ suggests that David Miscavige (the ‘head guy’ of the scientologists) does have his own jet.

Please note that the alleged Scientology airport is located in Las Vegas, New Mexico - not Nevada.

The city of Las Vegas, NM does have a municipal airport (KLVS) just a few miles from the center of town.

The airport mentioned above (NM53) is a separate place. Even though it is listed as having a Las Vegas, NM address - it is 60 miles to the east of that town, up in the hills.

I live in Las Vegas, NV, which was why I mentioned Las Vegas, at all. Also, in between my reading the message before your posting and my posting my message, you posted your message (which is probably also causing potential confusion).

Ah, got it. So I didn’t tell you anything new then.

…well, you told me that there was an airstrip in Las Vegas, NM that does not exist (just like Area 51 does exists in Las Vegas, NV)…

Google has flagged the symbol as “Trementina Base” in its satellite view.

Do you think they have anything to do with the Greater Green River Intergalactic Spaceport?

Good article with some information.
