Would appreciate some advice

@SweetPea11

Fixed it to my balcony. Will see what will happen.

Sorry for being stubborn, but I just moved my antenna again and the range in Radarbox expanded/.changed. So it cannot be the range from the last Sven days.

Seven days in total. Any single recorded aircraft will change it. So it can be seven days.

Did you install the graphs1090? There you have a range graph as well

yes I did.

It seems that after I moved my antenna the total range changed, right? About 14:30

Strange… the max range should increase

@foxhunter
thought so. Perhaps because the antenna sabot 1m lower fixed on the glas as before?

Last two hours.

What happens when you rotate/spin the antenna 90 degrees and then monitor the data for 24 hours?

Your original map shows you’re picking up aircraft in the north-south direction so if you don’t have any obstacles to the east, maybe the PCB inside the antenna is currently facing south and you just need to rotate it 90 degrees so the PCB is facing east.

That difference of elevation should have no impact.

Ok thank you, was just wondering.

@kenf3
Thank you for this idea, but wouldn’t I be missing the south when I rotate the antenna? But I will try it of course.

There is a thread somewhere here in that discussion board where this was discussed. The elevation should be a lot more to show an impact.

Yes, it’s just an experiment to find the root cause of the lack of aircraft to the east.

ok, understood. Will try that as said.

@foxhunterThanks (again) . Will do a search.

I just tried this with my portable ADS-B box that uses a PCB antenna and it didn’t seem to make a difference.

Are the apartments in the picture on your east side? If so, that might be the root cause because the curvature of the earth would put distant east aircraft behind/blocked by those apartments.

this “gap” is the apartment building.

Looks like you picked up a few aircraft to the east so I don’t think there’s anything wrong with your setup.

I cannot believe that this building blocks that much. My antenna has also some buildings in the neighborhood and my own roof is covering, but i do not have that much impact.

On your picture the rooftop of this building is not much higher than the surrounding floor.

Do you get as much range as he does to begin with?

@kenf3 I rotated my antenna, and have some more in the east and less in the south. So I assume the direction of the antenna is important, at least this kind of antenna. Thanks for the suggestion
