Who has the longest PiAware streak contest?

I’m at 273 today. The streak started on the day I began feeding… and the pi feeds over WiFi.

My longest streak was 350 days on site 2005 - but it ends today.

A new streak starts on site 11158

(would would be nice if the system could accommodate a change of MAC address at the site, but it can’t)

  • I have retired the original PiB and replaced it with a Pi2

No downtime on this site since I joined but like some others it will soon be ending when I upgrade it to a Pi2. It is a shame unlike other sites you can’t move your stats to a new setup.

Why not take the previous MAC to the Pi2. Did that and continued my strike, now at 280 days.

My RPi 2 Model B feeders haven’t gone down since I retired the old USB Wi-Fi dongles I had scrounged and switched to wired Ethernet.

And I don’t think I’m even close to the longest streak.

Cheers, Andrew

It is amazing how many streaks start from the initial “joined date”.

I’ve been through two PI’s (a PI B and PI B2), three power supplies, several storm outages with one resulting in a corrupted SD card and a few losses of internet service.

My thanks to FA for sending an anomaly message for those times that the software locked up due a power bump and for some very well written code! Likewise, OBJ’s dump1090 fork has been rock solid and in use for all but a month of my contribution.

I don’t have a UPS in place but I do have an AC connection that I can recycle remotely. This helped me this past summer when I was out of the country for two weeks.

My streak with FR24 hit two years (732 days) just today.

This is my earliest system, the “stable” one. I also run a number of test systems, trying, tweaking, and measuring.

We’re going to be replacing the roof on the house in the Spring. The bad news, all the antennas will have to come down for a few days. The good news, when they go back up, I plan to put one of the PiAware boxes in the attic with a 10 foot run of LM400 rather than a 60 foot run. Should help.

Still suspect that combining sectorized systems is the way to go. Not sure how to get there. My biggest problem is I waste so much time sleeping!

Overlapping feeders stats:

Longest Streak: 839 days (30-Sep-2014 - Today)

Main site #2394 Crash Jan 2015 when away reset the counter. Upgraded from a pi B to pi 2 last year, kept the MAC.

Would that I could have kept site#407 up daily:

    Feeder Type: PlanePlotter
    Multilateration (MLAT): Receiver Not Supported

And I know there are feeders running continually longer than that

I only started feeding recently so I have a long way to go.

That join date is not the actual join date, I imagine the flightfeeders get “joined” ahead of time then sent out later on. It was around December when I joined if I recall.

I have about 4 hours of battery backup for my home server room so I don’t expect it to go down any time soon. I just checked one of my servers and it’s going at 954 days.

Though not specifically stated, I believe this thread refers to piaware sites rather than flightfeeders. In that case, the “joined” date is the first time the Pi connects with the Flightaware servers or possibly when the site is claimed. I would think that most claim their site soon after it appears on the server.
