Bob: Sorry to pop up an old thread, but your script looks like just what I need to copy my Pi installs. Problem is, it doesn’t run for me. Backing up an SD card on a regular basis?

I know it’s straightforward enough to take the SD card out of my Pi, plug it into another computer and run a backup but that’s time consuming (it took over an hour to do a 16Gb card) and requires user intervention which is too much hassle really. Is anyone running any kind of automated backup? I’d like it to run a couple of times a week so that I’ve always got a fairly recent backup of my card. Cloning Booted RPi's microSD card on Windows PC through Network

I have created a booted microSD card’s clone and saved the cloned image on Windows Desktop through LAN using following procedure: (1) On Windows computer, (a) created a folder rpi-clone to hold the cloned img files, (b) enabled Network Sharing, and ( c) granted sharing permission to folder rpi-clone. I meanwhile have three Raspberries in use. The oldest one is now two years working for different purposes.

All three are equipped with 64 GB SD-Cards, not any of them failed in all the time.
