What aviation magazines do you read?

I was just curious what aviation magazines you guys read and what aviation sites you use(besides flightaware!).

Reason I ask is since it’s getting about that time of the year, Lakeland! I would like to start advertising for the FBO I work at(KFLO), and wondering what magazines GA pilots read the most and what website you look at. Just for good places to advertise and get some business since we are in a prime spot for northerners heading down!

Any suggestions or help I could get would be great!

Penthouse forum…

You might be late for advertising this year. Most magazines are produced well in advance. I’m sure the good folks at Flightaware will accept your ads. AOPA and EAA would be good places to advertise for events like that. There are a couple Podcasts that focus on experimental and LSA.

Flyboy do you right letters to the forum?

I just found some copies of a magazine I aparently had a free trial subscription to about 4 or 5 years ago. I never read the magazine back then ( the issues are from 2004-2005)I put them in a binder. It’s called Aviation Safety. Not trying to advertise for them so if you’re interested Google it. They have a website , not sure if they still do the print magazine and it looks like it’s subscription only type magazine. There aren’t many, if any ads in it. I think their revenue comes from subscriptions. Great magazine though with many different articles on safety, from engine failure to icing, VFR and IFR topics from circle to land procedures. collision avoidance, and many other topics from the very basic topics to advanced stuff, good reading. Also a section on NTSB reports and an AD section as well. Not a glossy magazine, it’s two color print, on a higher end cardstock. Most articles are written from a been there and here’s what happened and here’s what I did perspective.

Hmm… For me, it’s been Airliners, Airways, Airliner World, and Flying.

I read Aviation Week (AWST) to keep up with what’s going on.

I also hear FlightAware is a great place to advertise… you could put your ad on the tracking and info pages for some of the nearby alternate airports in Florida and/or some of the common origin airports in the north.

If only we could get them to advertise in penthouse then maybe we could use that as an excuse to get a subscription!

Wazzu, you pretty much are correct. i checked into a few magazines and missed the deadlines by a few weeks.

Next is to hopefully talking the boss into advertising on flightaware! I’m all for it! Great site and we use it to help us out tracking inbound and outbound flights so I would be more than happy to help them out by advertising with them!

Thanks for all the help guys! Whose going to Lakeland?

You can set it up online yourself or call +1-800-713-8570 between 8a EDT - 8p EDT and ask for someone in QuickAd sales.

On a regular basis (i.e. I have subscriptions)
Airliners
Airways

Infrequently (i.e. I glance at them at the book store because the content-to-price ratio is too high)
Airliner World
Flyl Past

Not that you are bias or anything…

Left out one: Airports of the World.

Ok so I’ll be serious now, Airliners, Airways, ATW, a.net, and these forums.

B&CA, AW&ST, Rotor, & AIN,

Add Flying, Plane & Pilot, Overhaul & Maintenance and AOPA Pilot to the above and I think that’s all I have subscriptions for.

Faves are Flying, Business & Commercial Aviation and Aviation Week & Space Technology (Aviation Leak!).
