I’ve just set up a new piaware but the web page won’t let me “configure location” and says I should contact flightaware. Since I can’t find a flightaware support form or email address I thought I’ld post here as next best option.
This is the third RPi I’ve set up recently (plus a motorola Xoom some time ago). The only difference between this one and the previous two I created over the last couple of weeks is that I initially installed this one as a virgin Noobs to which I added dump1090-mutability and piaware by hand. When the web page balked once I got to entering the height (the lat/lon went in OK), I rebuilt the pi using the piaware image file just to be sure it wasn’t something I’d done when configuring by hand. Even after that, it still failed at the same place.
It is the device with the MAC of b8:27:eb:69:f6:10
I have a friend setting up a fourth Piaware, and we’re looking forward to getting MLAT going in this area, but I can’t if I cannot enter a location for one of the 4 systems!
(3 of the 4 are currently at the same location but I’m looking around for people to run them elsewhere…)
@gtoal,
You piaware images are the last version (2.1.3)
2.1.5 is the current version. You can run an update from the FA website.
I think there is also a CLI update command(But I couldn’t find it).
or do you have issues with 2.1.5?
You may get better MLAT accuracy if you run NTP to get better time stability.
The timing with MLAT is separate from timing with NTP. Running NTP doesn’t improve MLAT results unfortunately. MLAT uses the messages as timing beacons.
OK, i send you my data, but this is the third time that this happens. So there must be a bug in your software or in your websystems that only you can set a location on a second or third receiver.
