Sigh…, No Will, no they weren’t. They were heading for a local airfield to display the plane for sale.

For some reason I thought they were goin’ to KOSH too. But the story from the OP’s post says:

Florida to KOSH is NO “short plane ride”.
Then you shouldn’t be repeating it without having researched its accuracy. C-
They were headed to a local fly-in where the plane was going to be displayed for sale. The repositioning flight was being done as a favor to the owner by the pilot and the co-pilot took advantage of the opportunity to outfit the plane with some of his gear to video the trip.
