Tracking a specific aircraft

#1

On November 20, 2005 US Airways flight 2871 diverted from XNA to LIT. I would like to know where that specific aircraft went following that flight. Is there any way to determine the N-Number of that aircraft and track it using the registration rather than by flight number?

The tail number is not listed in the flight plan, only the flight number, so we have no way to correlate the two at the present time.
There are some aviation enthusiasts who listen to HF radio and pair up flight numbers and tail numbers for given flights using ACARS/SEL-CAL information. Unfortunately we don’t have access to an accurate and complete feed of that information.

OK. That’s what I suspected. Thanks for the reply.

I am trying to find out which flights departed LIT on Monday, Nov. 21st. The listed history only goes back 500 departures which is short of that date. Is there any way I can get this information?

Again, thanks…

That’s exactly what I need, except I need it for LIT rather than XNA. I really appreciate it.

I thought there was something amiss there!

Excellent!! Thanks so much!

#9

I thought that sometime soon it was going to be possible to get the N-number info with an upcoming upgrade. Am I mistaken? Is that not in the works?

#10

It may be possible eventually, but not any time soon. Correlating tail numbers and flight numbers requires information from each airline or a reliable and complete source of ACARS data, and neither of those are easy to obtain.

#11

This site has a nice little database of ACARS data.

Why thank you :astonished:)

As the owner of this site, if there’s any FlightAware guys who may be interested in linking your site to mine, please contact me.

btw, the site isn’t just ACARS, it also lists SBS, Selcals, Radar logs, Visual sightings, and data from websites like BTS. All in, about 50,000 flights tie-up’s per day, globally.

Cheers
