Time Zone Confusion

I tried to track United Airlines flight 35 from JFK to LAX this morning and, to my enormous surprise and horror, it claimed that the flight landed several hours early. Of course, this would have meant a 3 hour flight from New York to Los Angeles, so I had the good sense to confirm with another website. In reality, the flight is on time (and still doesn’t land for another hour or so), but FlightAware seems to be under the impression that both the departure and arrival times for this flight were in EST, when clearly the departure was in EST and the arrival in PST. Whoops!

It’s part of an ongoing issue with the FAA sending us bogus cancellation messages over the middle of the country. Everything from the FAA is in UTC, so I don’t think timezone confusion is the issue.

We’re working on it.
