That’s an odd diversion. Wonder if he aircraft was to fly BDL-MDW after arriving from TPA and because it couldn’t get into BDL it was diverted to MDW to lessen the effect of a delayed aircraft?
It was just 10 minutes away from Southwest’s hub at BWI!
Looks like some bad weather over Connecticut. They could probably get in, but perhaps not make it out if they go there.
From the Bradley International Airport Web site:
THE AIRPORT IS OPEN. DUE TO THE ONGOING STORM, NORMAL FLIGHT SCHEDULES HAVE CHANGED. TRAVELERS ARE ADVISED TO CHECK WITH THEIR AIRLINES REGARDING THE STATUS OF THEIR FLIGHTS. PLEASE ALLOW FOR EXTRA DRIVING TIME TO AND FROM BRADLEY.
If you noticed, not being a ramble rouser, I just let that comment slide because I don’t want to have to reeducate people who don’t know what they are talking about, even when given evidence from the horse’s mouth.
Is this even a scheduled flight? The flight number appears later going from Ontario to Oakland. Maybe they were just moving equipment around, perhaps even to accomodate for planes that were delayed or cancelled elsewhere.
It’s a scheduled flight. Southwest quite often changes any given flight number’s routing. They especially change routings during major holidays.
On 4 July the flight was SJC-DEN-STL-CLE
Between 24 August and 31 October, the flight routed OAK-SAN
2 Nov to 21 Dec it was a weekly flight from ONT to OAK
24 and 25 Dec saw the flight flying between TPA and BDL
28 Dec the flight went ONT to OAK
31 Dec the flight was TPA-MDW (diverted from BDL; I wonder if the flight plan was entered incorrectly)
1 Jan the flight went from TPA to BDL
Finally, the last flight was on 4 Jan from ONT to OAK
Southwest’s scheduled flights range from 1 to the 3000s.
