SkyAware direct local connection on shared RPi configured as an OctoPi

Actually, I remembered that I was messing with the an OctoPi config file a few weeks ago. I just needed to comment out a line and the OctoPi webcam is streaming again.

The good thing installing nginx and putting it on an unused port: You don’t need to understand the system that is in place

I’d continue suggesting that as it’s just cumbersome to mess with an existing strange lighttpd configuration.

I mean you could check /etc/lighttpd/lighttpd.conf and see if not using port 80 in there will make lighttpd work (check log after changing config / restarting)

@wiedehopf and @Nitr0 That did it! I changed 80 to 81 in lighttpd.conf, and checked both ports 8080 and 8090. I’m getting the OctoPi webcam stream on 8080 and SkyAware on 8090.

Now that it’s working, are there better numbers to pick for either/both config file or should I not mess with what’s working?

As long as it’s not used, it doesn’t really matter.

Glad you stuck with it and got it working! It may be a decent idea to add OctoPi in the thread title so someone down the road with the same issue may find some relief.

One of these days you can teach me how to use a 3d printer… The wife will probably kick me out if I get one, so need to find a model big enough to live in.

EDIT: I feel like a dumdum for not properly searching - Just did a forum search on OctoPi and came up with: Dump978-fa.service timeout failures/restarts - #9 by mariusstrom
Our answer has been here all along. (Just to make this thread complete)

@Nitr0 It’s a deal! I bought a small one (Kodama Trinus) on Kickstarter a few years back to tinker with it and see where the technology was. It’s been a great way to learn some basic 3D design and occasionally comes in handy for toy repairs! In the last few years, 3D printing has started to transition out of the coding/tinkerer phase into more of an enthusiast/hobby pursuit so the ease of use and features (bed leveling, calibrating, multi material, etc.) have gone way up. The next one I buy will probably be a Prusa, but I can wait until they come out with the next version. The next thing I’d like to get into is laser cutting/engraving, so I’m currently saving up for a Full Spectrum Laser Muse Core. Too many hobbies, not enough time!

I tried to edit the original post to change the title, but it doesn’t seem to open an editor. Looking back at my previous posts in this thread, I don’t have the edit icon (pencil) for posts older than 18 hours, so I assume 1 day is the limit to edit(?) Anyways, anyone searching for OctoPi will probably come across the other guy’s post and this one now. You’re right, his solution was the exact same though.

I seem to have the necessary permission to be able to change the title so I have.
Hope that’s ok.
