Setting up a test feeder based on a cloned copy of an active feeder

Over the years I had my share of different hardware problems with my feeder so eventually I got to the point where I have a spare Pi4, a spare Airspy mini, a spare filtered preamp and even a spare Jetvision A3 antenne in the event that something should dare to break down. As all these plan B items are just collecting dust I would like to put them together as a test feeder so I can fiddle with all the settings and check the results against my normal feeder. To avoid starting from scratch I was planning to clone the SD card of my current feeder but this would mean that 2 feeders would be using the same feeder ID. I wonder if deleting the feeder-ID of my test feeder would be enough to make it into an unclaimed feeder?

No it’s a bit involved:

This is the short of it:

sudo systemctl stop piaware
sudo piaware-config feeder-id ""
sudo rm /var/cache/piaware/feeder_id
sudo systemctl start piaware

After that you should be able to claim.

Wiedehopf, as usual thank you for the quick reply.
I guess that for FA 2 feeders with the same coordinates (identical location file) will not cause other problems?
Oh, yeah, I just remembered that I’m also feeding Adsb exchange, I guess that a sudo bash /usr/local/share/adsbexchange/uninstall.sh will be enough?

You’ll have to set the location on the stats page …
