Russian TU-204 lands one kilometer short of runway . . .

Sounds like a Gimli Glider!!!

Aircraft had another emergency landing the day before the crash?

An Aviastar Tour TU-204 crash landed in a field one kilometer short of the runway at Domodedovo Airport in Moscow.

The aircraft had only 8 crew on board, and was returning from Egypt.

The 8 crew members survived the crash, 3 are reported in serious condition. The aircraft itself is said to have it’s wings ripped off, though there was no post crash fire.

Accident occurred at 02:35 local time this morning.

However, at 04:00 Sunday, the same plane flying from Moscow to Khurgada with passengers on board, after smelling ‘fumes’ in the cockpit - returned to Moscow and made a safe landing at 06:00.

Yikes!!!

OT: Since you brought up the Avianca crash, did anyone ever notice they used the news footage that shows that plane sitting on that hill side in a movie from 2004. Anyone care to venture a guess what the movie was?

Answer: “The Day after tomorrow”
